Sale or Division Appraisal: Detailed inventory with photographs and descriptions of each item. These appraisals reflect the realizable value based on results from public auction sales. Being conservative, this type of inventory allows for fair distribution among heirs and avoids disappointment in the event of a sale.

Donation Appraisal: Detailed inventory with photographs and descriptions of each item. Assistance in selecting a suitable public, museum, or university institution.
The appraisal then reflects the fair market value—that is, the highest cash price an item would bring on the open market in a transaction between willing, independent parties acting knowledgeably.
